Report of the EFI Education Committee for General Assembly 2000
The national representatives of the EFI education committee met on 5th April 2000 in Montpellier. One of the agenda points was the allocation of the EFI educational bursaries. The EFI board granted a number of bursaries for educational purposes over the past 2 years, which are judged by a three persons committee. In the past year five EFI bursaries for educational purposes were granted.
The EFI education committee supported the organisation of a sequence based typing course in Vienna in June 1999. The course was attended by 10 EFI members from central European countries. The course was organised by tutor teams from Vienna and Maastricht. The committee discussed the fact that there have been no applications for EFI bursaries in the past six months. It was decided to make a renewed registry of educational needs in the different countries by means of a questionnaire. If necessary a second SBT course might be organised.
An update of the list of donor and recipient laboratories was presented. The list is available through the EFI website.
Varying levels of educational activities are planned for the coming year in almost all countries. The committee suggested to make the educational programmes more broadly available to EFI Members.

In the past year 5 EFI bursaries for educational purposes were effectuated, as was the organization of a sequence based typing course in Vienna. It took place in june and was attended by 10 EFI members from central European countries. The course was organized by tutor teams from Vienna and Maastricht. The representatives discussed the fact that there have been no applications for EFI bursaries in the past six months. It was decided to make a renewed inventarization of the educational needs in the different countries by means of a questionnaire. The list of recipient laboratories willing to accept visitors was extended and will be made available through the EFI Newsletter and the website. - Miscellaneous
